Born on May 20, 1983 in Hyderabad, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr. carries the proud legacy of his grandfather, the legendary N. T. Rama Rao, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu cinema icon.

Son of actor-politician Nandamuri Harikrishnaand Shalini Bhaskar Rao, Jr. NTR was destined for greatness. Initially named Tarak Ram, he was later renamed in honor of his illustrious grandfather.

A trained Kuchipudi dancer from a young age, Jr. NTR's artistic journey began early. He completed his education at Vidyaranya High School and St. Mary's College in Hyderabad, while simultaneously honing his skills in classical dance.

1991-1996: Child Actor

Began his journey in Brahmarshi Viswamitra (1991) and played Lord Rama in the National Award-winning Ramayanam (1996).

2001-2003: Rising Star

Lead debut with Ninnu Choodalani (2001), followed by hits like Student No. 1 (2001) and Aadi (2002).Simhadri (2003) became the highest-grossing Telugu film of its time.

2006-2010: Critical Acclaim

Rakhi (2006) earned critical acclaim.Yamadonga (2007) with S.S. Rajamouli became a massive hit, followed by Adhurs and Brindavanam (2010).

2015-2018: Career Revival

Temper (2015) marked his comeback, followed by blockbusters Nannaku Prematho (2016),Janatha Garage (2016), and Jai Lava Kusa (2017).

2022-Present: Global Stardom

RRR (2022) brought international recognition, earning Academy Award nominations. Devara: Part 1 (2024) continues his pan-India success story.

Married to Lakshmi Pranathi in May 2011, daughter of television executive Narne Srinivasa Rao. The couple is blessed with two sons, Abhay Ram and Bhargav Ram.

Half-brother to actor-producer Nandamuri Kalyan Ramand nephew to film star Nandamuri Balakrishnaand politician N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Philanthropy

Known for his generous contributions to social causes. Donated ₹20 lakh for flood relief in Andhra Pradesh (2009) and another ₹20 lakh after Cyclone Hudhud (2014).
